You can’t spend your holiday in Egypt without visiting Cairo at least once. Cairo is the capital of Egypt and the largest city in Africa with about 20 millions inhabitants. It is definitely worth a trip, Cairo has plenty of unique sights from different cultures (Pharaonic, Coptic and Islamic). Cairo is also known as the city of the 1.000 minarets because of the many mosques. The first stop will be the Pyramids and the Sphinx. As you know the Pyramids of Giza consists out of 3 pyramids. The biggest one is the Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), the second one is the Pyramid of Khafre (Chefren) and the smallest one is the Pyramid of Menkaure (Mycerinus). In ancient times they were included among the Seven Wonders of the World. Against additional charges you can visit the pyramids from the inside. The other well known historical monument in Giza is the Sphinx, a limestone statue of a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human. Next to visit is the Egyptian International Museum, also called the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, for some more history. You will discover important pieces of the Pharaonic period like papyrus, the treasures of Tutankhamun, sarcophagi and also a number of mummies of kings. Now it’s time to shop. We will bring you to Khan El Khalili Street, the oldest and most famous street in Cairo, with its original bazaars and shops. Did you know that most of these shops are passed on for generations sometimes for more than 90 years. After this you will have your typical Egyptian lunch in a cozy restaurant. Before leaving Cairo you will have the opportunity to sail on the Nile in a “felucca”, a small sailboat against additional charge.
