If you visit Egypt and you are interested in Egyptian culture, then it’s a MUST to visit Cairo
Cairo is the capital of Egypt and the largest city in Africa with about 20 million inhabitants, but that can only be appreciated. Cairo is the third largest city in the world with many unique sights from different cultures (Pharaonic, Coptic and Islamic) and definitely worth a trip. Cairo is also the name given to the city of the 1000 minarets, where you will find many old, big, small, new and uncommon mosques.
One of the spot you will visit during this trip will be the Sphinx and the Pyramids. Cheops pyramid is considered to be the oldest and is the only remaining masterpiece of the seven worlds of ancient times. The largest statue ever built is the Sphinx with its mighty lion head. You can decide whether you want to see the pyramids from inside, the admission is voluntary and not included in the price.
Very interesting also to visit is the Egyptian international museum with more than 20,000 exhibits, the most famous treasures in the world. There are also 500 gold pieces from Tutankhamun’s tomb, the most famous being the golden mask.
After visiting the Pyramids and the museum, it’s time for some shopping. The Khan El Khalili Street is the most famous old street in Cairo with many original bazaars and shops. The shops are passed on for generations, and some traders’ families have been in their business for 90 years or more.
After having your typical Egyptian lunch in a cozy restaurant, you will have the opportunity to sail with a sailboat on the Nile (optional).
The day will finish in the afternoon when you will travel back to Hurghada.
